What F6S is

F6S is a large online community for startup founders. People use it to find accelerator programs, grants and funding opportunities, deals on tools, jobs and service providers. For a lot of founders it is one of the first places they look when they are new to the startup world and do not have a network yet.

We joined because a big share of the work we enjoy most is with founders at that stage: turning an idea into a first product, and then getting the first customers to find it.

The "About" section says why we started, and it is worth repeating here. Most businesses we met were paying one agency for marketing, another for the website and a freelancer for the app, then spending their own time making the three work together. Five things to check before you hire an agency

This is the advice we would give a founder friend, whichever agency they choose:

1. Meet the people who will do the work. Not just the person who sells it. At Amionyx you work directly with the founders and the team on your project, with no layer of account managers in between.
2. Get the scope in writing. What is included, what is not, and what happens when you change your mind halfway through. You will change your mind halfway through.
3. Start with something small and paid. A landing page or a one-month campaign tells you more about working together than any proposal.
4. Keep the keys. Your domain, hosting, code repository, ad accounts and analytics should be in your name from day one, with the agency added as a user.
5. Ask for references from companies your size. A team that is great with large enterprises may not be the right fit for a pre-seed startup, and the reverse is also true.
